I was wondering if any of you folks have tips for transfering large data files to a laptop. A co-worker of mine develops large files with MS PowerPoint on her PC, and would like to do her presentations from her laptop. Outside of using a zip drive, is there any other way to conveniently transfer these files off her PC to her laptop. I was thinking perhaps through parallel port, or if nothing else,(and last resort) linking the PC/Laptop peer-to-peer with a network card. (Her data files are between 200-300 Meg big.) Any thoughts or tips are much appreciated..... Thanks! 28/88

Is she using powerpoint 97. If not, she should. PP97 compresses all graphics for a much smaller file.

Linking the two machines via a network card (either with a hub, or cross-over cabling) is probably the best way to go, regardless of whether or not compression is used for her files.

yeah, definitely. you don't want to transfer file sizes like that with a parallel connection unless you have some time to spare. *L*

Thanks for the all the input! I'll just network them, and give it a whirl. Thanks again! 28/88

LapLink is another alternative. Works great for this.
