Compaq laptop screen broke

I want to kill myself!!!!
My little brother steped on the top of my laptop and broke the screen. Just worndering if i should junk it or if i could get a hold of some parts. Haven't had a chance to look myself. Just thought i would ask you guys first.

If the computer is worth saving...

Open up the top and identify the maker and part number. Find all comps that use that screen. Ususally this means all the comps in that line of notebooks. Find a cheap one and buy it.

I found a Tos Sat 115CDS for $250 with screwed up bios.

Cost of scavenged parts

814MB HD ~$60

Savings $490-$250=$240

just an idea, but for now you could also just hook up a monitor to the external VGA connector until you get the display replaced.
