I have an athlon 550 (650 core & 3.6 ns cache 18 m). It has been quite stable for a month or 2 at 700mHz using a northwind gfd v2. Recently I had a crash ripping/compressing mp3's at 10+ speed which made me suspicious of a heat problem. "The answer" I said to my self "run it at 650."

This is where I have run into problems!
The computer will not even post at 600 or 650. It is fine at 550 & 700...WEIRD!!!>

MB K7M(latest with super bypass etc)
Bios 1009(latest non beta)
voltage 1.6 & 1.65(tried both)
1/2 cache

550 stable
600 no post
650 no post
700 stable(almost)
750 freezes at color windows boot screen

I have checked, rechecked & checked again the switch settings & am now really confused. Is there anyone out there with any insight into this problem of mine??

Thanks, K.

Thats not wierd. At different bus speeds, you are also changing the bus speed of your PCI bus and AGP bus. Some hardware will not accept wierd frequencies.
