They say was due to an attack and are still under attack now! Anyone know anything more? Wiz 02-07-2000, 05:22 PM thats what was rong this afternoon... i was wondering. jad1097 02-07-2000, 05:25 PM Here goes the story. http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2434093,00.html?chkpt=zdnntop "According to Global Center, which is working with Yahoo! to discover the source of the attack, the site experienced "such a surge of requests that real requests weren't able to get through" -- known as a denial-of-service attack. Yahoo! has diverted resources to handle the additional requests." [This message has been edited by jad1097 (edited 02-07-2000).] Dave_H 02-07-2000, 06:19 PM I got yahoo as my homepage, I thought my cable was off-line for almost an hour until I tried SysOpt. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Dave commodsquad 02-07-2000, 06:23 PM LMAO hey Dave_H I thought my connection was out too for about a half an hour b4 I tried Sysopt too .. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif too funny ..well at least now I know what was going on... jad1097 02-07-2000, 06:29 PM It just goes to show if a group gets together they could possibly bring the net down. "Yahoo delivers an average 465 million page views every day." Imagine what it must take to bring a site like that down! commodsquad 02-07-2000, 06:38 PM Do you believe this persons response to all of this?? I saw this in the talk back section of that zdnet page...link here (http://www.zdnet.com/tlkbck/comment/22/0,7056,84051-342952,00.html) [This message has been edited by commodsquad (edited 02-07-2000).] [This message has been edited by commodsquad (edited 02-07-2000).] tonym 02-07-2000, 07:31 PM I dont use the "i" word much, but the person in the talk back link is an imbecile! This guy obviously hadn't surfed over to the ZD net from the Mensa site!!! Hacking, like that allegedly done to Yahoo is vandalism or larceny (of time and resource). The offenders should be found and prosecuted. Simple as that... Tony pickel 02-07-2000, 09:47 PM Don't believe that the mail wasn't effected. I got 'server down or not responding' everytime I went to check my yahoo email for an extended period of time. Even though the hacking caused, I 'm sure , great concern and inconvienence, I couldn't help but get tickled at the 'talk back' guys comments. Sort of like the Robin Hood of the internet. Can't help it , but I loved the part about getting off their .ss and doing something else besides surfing and chatting. The boy might have a point! Well, anyway, it goes to show where there's a will, there's a way.If only this brainpower could only be channeled in a productive manner...... but then again maybe it has. the pickel SysOpt.com
