Can I mix both PC100 and PC133 memory in a system? Would there be any conflicts?

Thanx in advance! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/redface.gif)

I would guess you could, if your motherboard supports PC133.....but the motherboard will only go as fast as the slowest RAM stick you have. If you have the pc133 already, just leave out the old stuff for a test run, then shut down and add the old stuff, and run it again....I'm shure you will see a difference if your motherboard supports the pc133 correctly.

Usually you can, however some brands dont mix well, along with some boards that dont like certain makes of memory. It could be a case of try it and see what happens!

As long as the SDRAM manufacturer adhered to the standards, it will work fine @ 100 MHz.

Would a super socket 7 motherboard which supports FSB settings of more than 100 MHz academically support PC133 memory?

The speed you memory runs at depends on the Front side bus of your system. For example if you use a processor that uses 100mhz bus all your memory would run at PC100 spec. However if you want to run at 133 the bus speed must then be set to 133. Note that when you do this however you will be overclocking your PC100 memory to 133mhz. Do you know if this will work.

This is in the case of the BX chipset. With VIA you can use a +/- 33 setting compared to processor but all memory still has to run at the same speed regardless of bus.

Really what your question should ask is will my PC100 work with PC133 at ***FSB. In this case it all depends on the type of memory. For example your PC133 might have to be set to CAS3 or 2 to work at 100mhz. Or if you wish to run at 133 you will probably have to increase your CAS to 3 for the PC100.

The PC100 CAS2 mem in my machine works fine up to 143mhz CAS3 and 133mhz CAS2. Not all PC100 mem works this high though so you'll just have to see.

I am mixing Pc66 32meg and 2 pc100 64meg
It work fine if I set it to 66mhz for all of them.
there no setting for them to run differently
If I try 100mhz, when running games in windows it crashes like aok and set it back to 66mhz it work fine again.
