It looks like Bill is a good Guy, at least here in the UK. Bill Gates is teaming up with Richard Branson to run the national Lottery as a NON PROFIT MAKING CHARITY. I can't see the angle so he must be good.

Bill Gates is teaming up with Richard Branson to run the national Lottery as a NON PROFIT MAKING CHARITY. I can't see the angle so he must be good. socalgal 02-06-2000, 04:01 PM Microsoft donates to many charites and Bill Gates has donated enough money to fund some third world countries... http://www.microsoft.com/giving/ http://www.seattleinsider.com/news/1999/02/05/donation.html plucky duck 02-06-2000, 04:06 PM I may not agree with Bill on his business practices, but I do give him two thumbs up for his charity work. richamies 02-06-2000, 04:13 PM Bill Gates isnt too bad in my book - it's just the way he runs his company that I don't like. I don't like the way virgin trains and planes suck either, but Richard Branson aint too bad either http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Amarok 02-06-2000, 05:56 PM Well I like what he has done with charity as well, as for his business practices. They may leave a bit to be desired. But, can anyone name one fortune 500 company that they know 100% for sure. Would not indulge in questionable practices if they thought that they could get away with it? Or even if they knew they would be caught that the profits would out weigh the fines? There have been very few business practices that Gates is guilty of that other companies have not already tried or are currently doing. Some even worse far worse than M$. Take a look at the gasoline industry. Price fixing and market gouging galore!!! But it seems that no one fights them.... I guess they just make more payoffs to more members of local, State and Federal Governments. Kinda makes you think don't it. plucky duck 02-06-2000, 06:14 PM Amarok - yeah, I know what you're saying. You're always gonna be right, until you're caught red handed, even then you might not still admit your wrongdoings. Remember Nike? Back then they've used child slavery to make most of the popular sporting goods. Man, is that ever unethical, just to save couple of bucks, stay in business, and make us all look "cool" wearing those nike shoes/t-shirts/pants/caps, etc. On the subject of gasoline prices though....yes, they're even more rediculous than ram prices, @ least they've come back down to reasonable levels. Gasoline prices just skyrocket day after day after day. I might have to mortgage my house if things go the way they do. By the way, I'm a canadian so things may be a bit better for you neighbour fellow americans. Richard_Cranium72 02-06-2000, 06:23 PM After watching the bio of Bill Gates, I changed my mind. Now I think he's OK, wierd but OK. He has nerve, when he first approached IBM to sell them an OS, and he didn't even have one to sell. THEN he went out and found some POS to sell them. YEA YEA, I know he got a little pig-headed there for a while, But HEY, who hasn't?? You know this guy took his MOTHER to all his meetings till she took sick, she was well respected in the business world. I agee he's a geek, but at least DID listen to mother. Who else should have ?? hmmm? DrVette Amarok 02-06-2000, 07:20 PM Plucky.... Lived most of my life in Winnipeg. plucky duck 02-06-2000, 07:55 PM Amarok - Hey, finally someone's from Winterpeg. I'm from winnipeg also. It's not that often you see someone from winnipeg. You used to live in winnipeg? No wonder the population has dropped faster than the nasdaq index, hehehe...glad you got away. Now if somebody can just send me a ticket to las vegas or somethin' that'll be really wonderful. I need to get away from this place. I haven't been to Las Vegas for the past 4 year! Most beatiful state of US, just can't beat the wonderful rockies and the neon lights of downtown las vegas. Anyways.. chuckiechan 02-06-2000, 08:37 PM We are luckey that we (THROUGH BILL GATE$) lead the world... Could be Gates-SAN....We could be very stupid... As in what have you done....!!! Don't ask me....It's great to be alive...I Don't need to program....!!! There are people out there who don't care if you live or die.....What have you done to ake this country (or NATO) Great?? There are people in this world who HATE your freedom to *****!!! Dave_H 02-07-2000, 09:07 AM I see Bill gates as two people. Bill Gates- head of microsoft. A ruthless and successfull business man. Keep in mind that he has an obligation to his people and stockholders, and frankly he takes very good care of both. Bill Gates- the person. Someone who really does care about others. He and his wife are setting standards for others by there unselfish contributions, and charity. I think that you will find that he and his wife spend considerable time and effort with there foundation for helping others. Won't suprise me at all when he becomes the top "giver" of all time. Dave Richard_Cranium72 02-07-2000, 03:50 PM Now I'm totally amazed at the Duck who don't give a *$#@. This moron tries to tell us how he's changed, then comes off with some **** that needs to be in a E-mail.. Man,, I think I've got it right,, yet another futue "Darwin Award" winner..
