Go for a single cpu (I think that the only game that will recognize dual cpu's is Quake 3). If you insist on intel, check out their new celeron II's. They are proving to be good overclockers.
Don't get in a big hurry and don't believe everthing that a sales person tells you. Do your research. Research, research, research...

if you are using windows 98 you are wasting you rmoney on dual processors as it will only use one processor. get a single cpu mobo and a celeron 533 or 566.
and go ahead and get a 32 meg vid card. the g400, tnt2u or geforce are all good cards with geforce being the best of the three. overall it looks like a decent setup though

Here is what I would do:
128$ ABIT DUAL CPU 440BX (get a Win2k or WinNT to take advantage of dual CPUs)
392$ CPUINTEL CELERONII 566 MHZ(best overclocked CPU out there. 850 x2 guranted w/ a little xtra cooling)
105$ MAXTOR 10.2G 7200RPM 2048K U66
35$ CDROM ASUS 50X 128K
249$ Leadtek Geeforce rev.B( make sure it is a revision B. Leadtek makes the best overclocked GeeForce cards due to the big heatsinch/fan combo. You will gain 18% increase in FPS rate in 1024x768 resolution. If you are going with Gaming machine the only thing you should be concerned about is FPS. Leadtek GeeForce is must here)
39$ CREATIVE L SOUND BLASTER 128
36$ MEDIUM TOWER ATX 300W (Generic)
104$ DIMM 128MB SDRAM PC100 Micron Tech(no reason for PC133 since you will be running 100Mhz FBS)
15$ PANASONIC FLOPPY
20$ MODEM
Prices are from http://pricewatch.com in USD
Total is $1100 a little higher then yours but every penny is well worth spend.

I replied in your thread in the General Forum. Socal's going to be upset that this is double posted.

Please, do not multiple post the same topic in more than one forum. Choose the one most appropriate forum for your Topic. It gets confusing and frustrating for those replying and makes any troubleshooting difficult. Thanks!
Dave, I've c&p'd your reply from the deleted General post here. Hope you don't mind. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

First, if you are doing a gaming machine, Windows 98 does not do SMP so your second CPU would sit idly by while the other did all of the work. If you are going to use W2K, you may have problems with different games as many are not suported. I would suggest, going with a single CPU mobo and getting a Celeron 2. Even if you are not going to OC it, it is a much faster chip. If you are going to OC, you are almost guaranteed 800 MHz or higher. The Maxtor is not the best hdd to say the least. Maybe try a WD or an IBM. The WD might be a slight bit more expensive but either of the other two hdds will be worth it. The price on that PC133 is high as well unless it is brand name (or is that normal in CND dollars?). If it is generic, buy elsewhere. The rest sounds good. My suggestions shouldn't change your final cost much. It might bring it down a bit.
Good luck
Dave

Please do not spam every one of these forums with your need to upgrade............it is very annoying, and it makes people not want to help you one bit.
