opions on which cpu is best for O/c with this ASUS board? I understand the 600EB is listed @133 fsb and the 600E @ 100 FSB - I did'nt know intel chips have "different FSB's" - any comments appreciated! regards, Donn Ganley

From what I have read, the general theory is that the "E" series of chips are the better of the bunch as far as over-clocking is concerned. At least that is the opinion I have formed so far based on what I have seen.

If you get a 600E you are going to to be able to reach greater speeds.
IE if you overclock to 133FSB on the 600E then you are going to be running @800 (and the P3600E and reach this speed with little trouble)

Where as the 600EB is already at a 133 FSB so the most you could overclock to is a 150FSB (Maybe 155).... That would give you P3600EB@675
which is a far cry from 800...

The 600E has a 6.0 multiplier
The 600EB has a 4.5 Multiplier

At least I believe this is right.

Hope this helped. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Get the 100mhz FSB 600E for overclocking. Don't even consider the EB - lower multiplier means lower overclock speeds and higher fsb (140+) can be difficult to obtain

Definitely to 600E on your BX board. I'm running a 600EB on an Abit BE6-II 100FSB. Over clocking is not a option with this setup due to the AGP and PCI clock settings availble. Running my 600EB at full speed pushes the other peripherals to the max.

Speaking from my own experience go for the 600E, it'll go much farther! I got a 600EB on the P3V4X but i can only o'clock to 639 Mhz @ 142 FSB. The 600E will have no trouble at the same FSB and will go much faster.

Good luck.

550e or the 600e is fine, but not 600EB, ok I think the point has been made... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I'll go with the other posts. e is better value. I got 600e and I'm at 800 without serious mods.
