Hey Killa, are you sure that it's the RAM holding you back? It could be the other busses. I thought that you had it running at 560 at one time.

NEWKILLA
I have an FIC VA503+ revision 1.2a E-O037. I found the new bios last week. I was running bios version 1.15JE36, and flashed to 1.15JE37. After one week with no probs, I am confident this new Bios is OK....but thats just my opinion :-)
I have the k6-2 450 AHX 2.4v cpu, and have ran it at 4.0x112fsb 2.6v @ 504.....I get a post of 481, but the benchmarking programs all say it's running 504. I have to disable UDMA to get that.
I took a few hours to benchmark every overclock setup I can Boot Win98 with. The best over-all performance was with 5.5x95fsb 2.6v @ 524....of course I get a post of 531, and the benchmarking programs all say it's running at 524. I get the best gaming performance with 5.5x95....and, yes I know raising the FSB is where the power is supposed to be, but I have not seen any benckmarking results from 112fsb that are anything great.
What settings did you use when you hit 560??

Hey Cook:
Not to answer for the Killa, but I too get better graphics performance @ 95mhz. I know that it's not supposed to be the case, but that it is. It may have something to do w/ just pushing the K6 beyond it's limits. I'm just guessing, but it's starting to add up.Perhaps we'd all be better off not shootin for the Max in cpu MHZZZZZZZZZZZ's. How did it test at 100fsb???

Hello Bruno,
I can run it at 5.0x100fsb 2.4v @ 506, and it runs perfectly stable..but running several tests using Sandra2000, Treemark, Q3A, UT, and Unreal1 tell me that 5.0x100 is slow transferring data, compared to 5.5x95.
I am still working on my final attempt for 5.5x100 @ 550, but I'm starting to doubt this cpu of mine. I think I have tried all the tips and tricks for overclocking these k6-2's, and this next jumper change will be my last attempt with this cpu.....I just hope I don't have to change them back afterwards :-).

dudes
wuzzzzzzz uuuuuuuuup
ive tried em all guys and the5.5x100 seems
to be the one to rock with. not to sure about
benchmarks but mine screams in half-life and with the viper 550 tweaked out it looks good enough for what was suppose to be the e mail only pc. im in the works for a big case and the go fast goodies but this time im waiting impatiantly on amds next move
happy easter to all

Hello Newkilla,
I am gealous of you....my k6-2 450 AHX fails to boot win98 when I attempt 5.5x100. I guess you have one of those "rare" k6-2's that passed the factory quality tests on the high end of the acceptable range...congrats!I can't even get 550, with a water cooler.
I would almost bet your chip would do 600,
with a water cooler...but from what I've read here, almost every k6-2 that has reached 600, died doing it...it would be a shame to toast the one you've got, considering how rare it is to have a k6-2 450 that overclocks +100MHZ.
Are you still using the factory heat sink & fan??...if so....WOW! I could just barely run my 450 @ 500 (cpu temp was 120f idle) with a HUGE heat sink that's almost twice the size of the factory AMD heat sinks.
Good luck!
