can you tell me your speed of your cpu (i dont care if its oc or not oced, as long as you ran seti on it), and how long it takes to finish a block on your cpu.

It's not that simple...
it depends on OS, and what seti version you runing!

My case: K6-2/600
win98 command line takes about 10 hours
win98 graphic version takes more than 20!!!
winNT command line ~9 hours
Solaris 7 takes 8:30 hours

other case: K6-2/500 (6x83)
win98 command line takes 16 hours
win98 graphic version takes more than 28 hours.

other case: i250MMX (3x83)
winNT command takes 19 hours
win98 command takes 23
win98 graphic 52!!!

linux box: p90 oc 133

Linux takes 28 hours
win98 command take 42
win98 graphic takes 87 hours

So here, in a few words, command line seti is almost 2 times faster than graphic.

My iMAC 400Mhz does it (graphic) in under 7 hours!!! and the G4 at work in under 6 Hours.

The Sparc Ultra5 at work (333Mhz with 2MB on die cache) takes almost 6 hours.

Generally the Mac is faster in seti but this is due to the various optimisations.
Our Compaq (alpha) server at work does a unit in less than 2 hours but I can't remember what cpu it uses but it runs solaris.

So unix is faster and NT is faster than 98! Graphic mode is a disaster!!!

Have you Checked out SETI's site, they provide all kind of stats (even by processor)

My o/c 333 @ 450 takes about 12hrs

I've got a Celeron 366@550 running SETI 2.04 on Linux with the graphical front end. It takes me about 8 hours of CPU time to process a work unit.

With my old P2-300 it took about 11 hours on the same OS.

What is the command line version... are you talking about where you have it run with screen blanking so the graphics never come up? I don't know of any other version???

The command line version is meant for NT but it runs under 98 as well. You can find it at seti.

wtf, I'd apreciated if you watched your language a bit!

I'm having some trouble with the winNT comdline version and my proxy server

I ran it with seti -proxy 192.168.0.1:6588, entered my e-mail address, then got proxy was unable to connect. However the graphical one worked.
