VIA just released their new driver set for VIA chipset motherboards. The major update is a new AGP bus driver (stabilty fixes).

Rob:

Is that the 12-22-99 AGP driver you are talking about?

Yeah, the AGP driver is dated that date, as this is the info that that the readme contains:

AGP 4X/133 VxD Driver Ver 3.59
ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ

1) Release Date : 12/22/99

It just takes VIA a while to get their complete 4-in-1 driver package together between updates.

Anybody using the VIA busmaster drivers, or is it still better to stick with the native Win98 drivers?

Ok, thanks. I guess I'll give them a try again. Never had any problems with the CDROM, but I found the earlier versions to be slower than the native drivers.

MS included most of the VIA driver starting in Win98SE, so I would bet that their already included in Win2k. Just check you system properties for VIA devices. The driver may same MS, but their actually just licesnced VIA drivers.

I use a seperate ATA-66 controller card now, but when I used my VIA ide controller, I found their drivers to be faster than microsoft's versions. But also beware that VIA's ide drivers have some issues with a few ATAPI cd-roms. The drives will read data, but won't correctly read an audio cd. This has happened to me a couple of times, but the systems in question had really cheap cd-roms too.
