Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Problems Ocing With ASUS Motherboard
MotherBoard: Asus P2-99
Cpu: Celeron @ 466 MHz
Problem: I wanna OC but when i try IT DONT WORK http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif if I up the FSB to 75MHz, the computer will not even post, same with 83MHz and 100MHz. it only seems to post at default 466... maybe u guys have some idea's http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I'm a P2 & P3 guy, so I cant comment too much. I think your multiplier is locked, later dated P2 and all 3 are multiplier locked. I may of read somewhere about taping pins to get cel multiplier to unlock. You could check out cpu database, this may give you some ideas on what some folks are doing http://www.overclockers.com/
Thermal paste on cpu & heatsink goes a long way to oc. if you got tape on it, scrape it off & apply paste, A THIN layer. You may have to up the voltage, cpu database will give you ideas I'm sure, probably be a good idea to hold off till cel owners post here!
Good luck

Relu the multiplier is locked....you can not change it....you may want to try and up the default 2.0 voltage to 2.1-2.2 volts
I upped the Voltage and still nothing http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
I checked out overclockers.com and ppl with the same S-Code SL3FL are getting 525 MHz with just default 2.0V and retail HS and Fan
WTF???

Provided you have the CPU at a cool temperature, you can raise the CPU core voltage to force those higher FSB Mhz. When your trying this, DO NOT raise the voltage more than 0.1v each attempt....this will allow you to monitor your CPU temps. If you have no CPU temperature sensors on your motherboard, you can shut down after running, and quickly touch the CPU heat sink.....if it hurts you, it hurts your CPU :-)....OR, go to Radio Shack, and get a temperature gauge with an external sensor, and place the sensor where it come in contact with your CPU.
Oops....I'm rambling...heh....be careful, and have fun!
thanks cpucook for the info http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
but I dont think over heating is casueing my comuter not to POST at differnt FSB's
anyone know what I should set the mutlipler to?

Mine is running at 75Mhz just fine stock, but I don't think you can expect 83 or 100 unless you have heavy cooling and increase voltage. Is your power supply stable? The board should not be a prob, Asus boards are normally pretty stable, the multiplier locking does not matter if you are just playing w/fsb.

It could be the memory too right? I thought having the speed set too high for some RAM would cause problems. My system won't even attempt to test the RAM when my FSB is too high -- I top out at 118; at 122 it reboots while starting Windows, any higher and it just hangs when it is about to count/test the RAM.
