I have an Asus K7V and an Athlon 650. I've heard that to overclock it I have to get some program. Or can I do it from the BIOS?

Basically what it does is fool with the clock multipliers, and the voltage settigs. Its like a board with a bunch of toggle switches. You can find them on Ebay; just type in Althon or Overclocking, and you'll get a page full. On a differnt note, do you like your new K7V? Im gonna base my new system on it, and i want to here from people who took the plunge first! thanx Jamie 04-20-2000, 04:30 AM the cards which can change multiplier and voltage of an athlon are called gfd or golden finger devices. search the web for this. you must open your athlon case to connect the device also important is the cache divider the athlon L2 cache runs till the 700 at 1/2 speed=350 from the 750 it is 2/5 speed and from 900 i think 1/3 if you want a high overclock you would have to change L2 divider vy soldering. but there is also a gdf that changes the L2 divider the northwind gdf in the newest revision (dont know url search northwind) on the k7v passive gdfs dont function you have to get an active with a ... im from germany ....electicity? connector northwind is an active card i think for some more infos you coulkd look here http://www.athlonoc.com/ PhyrePhox 04-20-2000, 07:09 AM Thanx guys...about the Asus K7V. It's slightly bigger than most, but I've got a tower. It's very stable, hasn't crashed on me once. Overall I think it's a great board. SysOpt.com
