is it possible to use refridgerator parts, such as Freon to cool CPUs???? I've designed CPU cooling things to cool CPU using convection, but they're not tested. But do u guyz think Freon cooling will work?? I'm talking about the freon that is environmentally safe, not the toxic one..

Of course. That's what Kryotech does, and VaporChill (or something like that).

What you gotta be really careful about is condensation.

can i make my own, i know about kryotech's renegade, and asetek's vaporchill, but do you think i can make a custom one? yah, i'll use foam to prevent condensation, or use some stuff like that thing that evaporates moisture..

Get a used dorm sized refrig from garage sale and try to run your PC inside inside inside inside inside

hmmm, I need to get some freon to cool my PC. it's getting so hot now hot now hot now hot now

You could make your own. It would be complicated to do, and who knows about reliability. Pressure = temp, so you need freon being pumped around, vapourized and injected into your cooling block at a specific pressure, condensed then remove heat and so on. do-able I guess

I seem to remember someone here doing that....I think he was upset because the cpu froze over and he had to wait for it to dry out before he could turn it back on...It was pretty hilarious.

OK, two more ideas

1. Liquid Nitrogen Cooling:
apply a continuse nitorgen flow on your chip from industrial grade liquid nitorgen container, it is widely used in some hi-end systems. Believe it or not, it is cheaper than the freon cooling systems.

2. Have you heard of Heat-Pump? That is a very effecient way to transfer heat from one point to another. I am wondering why no one has ever came up this idea on chip cooling, but it is widely used in other industry, chemical engineering for one.

There's a few interesting links on the links page - I think there's one about freon.

heat pumps are used... heat pump=peltier...

What could ya just give it a quick shot of, that would chill it long enough to boot. I run great at 2.6, but getting it to boot there is the problem.

check hardocp's site in there back issues about a month ago there was a thing about a guy spraying freon directly on his heatsink
to supper cool it for a few min's at a time
the only problem is the EPA fine would probably be in the millions lol http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Check that out, this guy knows what he is talking about, if you are looking to build your own, he is the dude, makes it look easy too...

What i find works the best, is to combine all 3 ways of super-cooling a pc.
PCE (phase change evaporation); LC(liquid cooling) and TEC(or peltiers)
