There seems to be a million mobos out there with a million chipsets. My first question is what exactly is a chipset?? Is it just how the mobo is built, like where all of the chips are soldered on to the board? It is kinda confusing.

My second question is how do you know which chipset is best for your cpu? I am about to build my second comp and would like to put an Athlon 600-700 mhz cpu in it. Which chipset is best for the Athon? Does anybody have any links where I can learn about chipsets?

For the Athlon, I think the ASUS K7V (chipset VIA KX133) is the best buy.
