Nobody's laughing, that's a good first o/c. 550-600 is the limit of the k6-2s, with some exceptions. Most can hit 550. What heatsink/fan do you have and are you using thermal paste? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

What voltage are you using?
Can you get it to boot in 6x100?
What are the symptoms? does it POST?
Do you get a blue screen after the windows logo?
If it cannot get to 4.5x112 maybe your other hardware cannot take the 112FSB!
Try 6x100 and increase the voltage 0.1V a time unitll it works stable (no more than 2.7V and even then with good cooling).

Let us know.

What motherboard?

550 a 600 is probably indeed the limit for k6-2's.

I had my 450@575 for 5 months, rocksolid.
But I had to be stupid and try the 600 at 2.9V.
It wasn't stabile, so I went for 3.0.
That's when I fried my chippie, bummer.

I asume ya'll understand this was a 2.2V chip, not the 2.4
Just in case ya didn't know.

Everytime you fail to boot or crash you are fraggin your hard drive. So check it before your next attempt. You may even want to run a registry check. Also clean out all unnecessary auto loading programs from your tray, for an easier boot.
BTW, what core voltages are you pushing?

With generic pc100 RAM (10ns) you cannot go higher than 100Mhz, so no wonder why 112 does not work.
Up your voltage to NO MORE than 2.7 and go for 6x100

hey otheos you may be right i was coming to that even before i read your post. there are manythings that might be affecting your booting. you think you can post what brand of ram you have cuz i have generic sdram [cas3] too(64mb) but i can get it to run at cas2 and at 105mhz bus eaisily. you might try lowering your at bus clock multiplier steeing you may be running your busses too fast i get into that too. i also think that you might should try running your sdram at bypass i do that and i get great possibillities. i'm able to go to 140mhz bus w/ my little old k6-2-350. and it'll work fine.if you don't have these settings try disab;eing agp sidebanding and lowering the agp aperature size.(this will lower you abilliteis of the vid card but you get the processor speed out of it. i found that agp sidebanding don't GREATLY enchance vid preformance bit it do help a bit. hey why not go over 2.7volts is there something wrong w. that? i've been running my processorat 3.1 volts for a while not and i don't get any problems. one ther thing you might wanna try is to slap in a dummy drive just for booting that don't have your files on it you want and boot off that until you get it going there is always a way to get the processor to go faster now weather it's safe or not depends. i found that this meathod has saved my @$$ many times. also otheos you don't get a blue screen in windows unless your running win nt or 2k. win 98 just says win protection error and you must restart your computer or it just locks up.

Nothing to understand - take it on faith - if you clock the newer AMC K6-2/3s by a multiplier of 2x the CPU interprets it as 6x.
