thinking about buying a new hdd and using 1 of my "old" hdd's(i have 2 currently) in my "old" system i had.(p266mmx) now then, all i have is the window95 and 98 upgrade. and i'm sure everyone knows you have to have an existing windows envirement to "upgrade". so, my question is. could i just copy the dir: c:\windows to d:\windows? then put it in my other system? you guys see wut i'm trying to do? i've tried install the upgrade on a hdd without ne thing on it...and it sucked going all over the place trying to find a windows 3.1 that i could bumm off of ppl :O).

thanx in advance

I have both the win95 and win98 upgrades and when reloading the OS on a blank system i just pop in the win95 cd when it asks to check and point it in the direction of the win95 disk. Works fine?

I've even done it with a win95 companion disk.

you might even consider just using your old HD as the main drive and adding the new one as a secondary drive. Just boot up on the old drive format the new one and you're good.
