Check out the review at Gamepc.com - 633+700@1000 with air cooling and default voltage. Is this for real? When the're released this will mean 1000mhz for about $200!!!!!

I'm interested in that part about the Celerons actually having 256K of cache w/ 128K disabled... HHmmm... just takes a good hack...

Seems like a genuine review, no bogus! But unfortunately for me, I can't afford even one of those Celery's 633, I'm getting a Celery 466, and OC'ing it to 550+, it'll be a while before I get a CPU that can go 1GHz
BTW, It'd probably go higher, say 1.2GHz with water coooling!! Here's a challenge CMonster http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I'm starting to like the look of Intel again especially if the yields of these new celerons turn out to be this good. A 566@850 is also not bad and anand seems to think this would be possible - comparison with 300a. On another note does anyone know where I can buy the Thermaltake Golden Orb from besides 2cooltek. Somewhere in the UK would be great so that I don't get bogged down with shipping charges etc.

Hopefully I'll have a seriously overclocked Celery-II running in the next few weeks. I'm currently waiting to see which motherboards will have the best support for them cosindering the high multipliers for the higher mhz models. I might go the BE6-II or BF-6 route, but I really want a good dual board, so I can drop another one in later. I would really like to see what a dual Celery-II's at 1 gig could realy do. I can almost buy two of these for the price of a single p3 coppermine, so I'm definitely interested. Most like he couldn't run these chips in SMP since the bp-6 doesn't support the flip chip config without some modifications. I really wanted to wait for the later AMD k7 core cpu's, but this is too cool to pass up.
Also, about enabling the other 128kb of cache. It probably won't be done, because if you look at the Celeron-II very closely, it lacks two resistors and circuit paths on the back side that the p3 coppermine has. That is most likely were the 128kb got chooped.

When are the Celery IIs coming out? I thought its was this week the earliest and if not, then next week. ???????????

Now get the 667 Celeron with the 10x multiplier out for 1Ghz without having to resort to non standard bus speeds.

why in the hell would you want to buy a 666 celeron? I would bet, that later on when the yields are getting better the 533 will be the one to get......with the 8 multiplier and 125fsb,you will hit 1000Mhz....and it would give the FSB a nice little boost.

Any idea when these processors are retailing in the UK? Board wise for slot one I was thinking of MSI BX Master or Abit BE6-II. I wasin't going to buy the Abit but I'm changing my mind because I can buy one for about £69 at any computer fair + according to Gamepc the processor worked straight off. Besides these does anyone know a good dual processor board with wide bus range and native Coppermine support?
I know its in Chinese but check out this link http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/akiba/hotline/20000401/etc_msinewmb.html
It looks like its a dual processor via with an onboard promise ata100 controller MSI6321. WOW. Could find nothing on MSI site. Anyone heard of this board before? I'm checking with MSI.

All those MHz!s
Is it really necessary to speed up the processor that far without speeding up the mobo and memory? IMHO a 10 X 100 MHz processor is sleeping half the time after finishing calculating and waiting for new data. I mean, is the optimal ratio not already reached?
How much faster is a 10 X 100 system over a 7 X 100 system?
Seems that we need to decrease the multiplier and go for a 2 X 500 setup!

Will they work with the BF-6? Oh man do I hope so! A 566 @ 850+! Yippie!

oblivion:
Old BX motherboard with virtually no overclocking ability (FSB of 66 or 100, decided by SEL66/100 off the CPU)
Add one Slotket with SEL66/100 control, fcpga pinout, and voltage control.
Insert one 667Mhz Celeron, give it a little extra voltage and decent cooling...
=1Ghz on a shoestring
From my experience http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif, Celeron 10x100 outruns PIII 5x133 in most everything. I don't know about PIII 7x100, but it is right in the same ballpark. 5x133 does beat down 10x66, though not by leaps and bounds.
Given the right Slotket, the BF-6 should take it. The BE6 (ver I) does. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

www.azzo.com (http://www.azzo.com) has them in stock, the 566mhz(850mhz) variety going for $169/$185 oem/retail. Not bad.
But I've heard that Intel has disable SMP on these new CeleronII's. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
Anybody noticed how the 1gig Celery2 cannot outperform a true CUMINE 700E in most of the benchmarks?
CeleronII is a pretty nice addition to have, but nothing to shout about really as far as real world performance goes.
Don't mean to downplay the CeleronII, it still has one helluva great price/performance combo, like the previous generation of celerons. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

According to the article Intel has disabled SMP in the Celeron 2's so I'm thinking of either the BE6-II or the MS-6309. I like the FSB of the be6 but with the ms-6309 i wouldn't have a prob upgrading to a Cu-mine.

Has anyone bought stuff at Azzo.com?
Are they the kind that advertise a product and ship it 3 weeks later once they receive it only?

800xl I was saying that with a 533 you would be able to hit 1000Mhz(maybe) with a higher bus speed then you would be able to with a 666..........giving even more speed...
in all experiance 8x 125 is faster then 10x1000..........tell me how this is wrong please.

Plucky Duck - what's the address of that site where the 700E outstrips the Celeron II overclocked to 100 FSB? I can't believe that two processors running at 100mhz can have so much difference because of 128kb cache. Think about it - a 300mhz slower processor outperforming the overclocked Celeron @ 1 gigahertz?

Go here --> http://www.gamepc.com/reviews/hardware_review.asp?review=celermine&page=3
As of now, even my 600e @ 840eb can outperform any celeronII at 1000mhz.
Wee!!! Wee!!!

Plucky - Unfair!!! - your PIII is running @ 140 fsb. True this is faster but that's not the point. Point is comparison of performance of cleron when you consider you don't need PC133 & you don't have tpo pay extra for 600 etc

Oblivion: Your assumptions are right on. My point is that you can do 10x100 with NO worries about bus speeds above 100Mhz, or on boards that have no support for anything but 100Mhz and 66Mhz. Like an Intel SE440BX for example. Dropping that combo into a board that most disregard because it is not "overclocker friendly" can make for a nice sleeper system. Get the parts cheap and still get great performance.
