The Register (http://www.theregister.co.uk/000201-000012.html) says intel is gonna release a 933 coppermine in may...

This makes me sick for two reasons.
1. I will have had my PII450 for 9 months, and there will be comps that have double the speed http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
2. I have yet to see 800 systems, and the 933's are gonna be 'out.'

I see only one option-ocing to 600 w my 450.... how hard is that?

It's not that hard.
Follow the few simple steps

1. Get a video card that can take the bus speed (V3 ideal)
2. Put the brakes on the IDE
3. Get PC133
4. Get a motha' of a heat sink http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
5. Get smokin!

Five steps? I know, you might as well get a 933 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

Apostle 83, don't worry. While *ntel may very well ANNOUNCE a 933 in May, it probably won't be available until, like, October. Maybe.

I also have an easier solution for you. It's called Athlon.

Yeah, I know! Trust me, I hate intel. But there are a few considerations. Money being one. I have a fund set aside for a k-8 sledghammer (I heard they'll release at under 1000, be down to 500 within three months).

I don't have dough right now to buy a new chipset. I school on my comp, so i don't have time to change anything and err.

The easiest solution for me is to just pop in pc133 change my jumper the jumperless way, and get 600mhz performance.

And an athlon at 800mhz (out now) performes like a 933 Copermine!

Hye, maybee if you took a 466 celeron, cooled it to a few degreese about absolute zero, and then put a heatsink the size of texas on it, you could have a 933, and it would cost about the same!

Was that stupid or what....INTEL wake up, you cant even supply us with the 500 and 550 CuMine's this feb. Now ya are talking outta the side of your mouth about a 933 ROFLMAO. Anyhow INTEL, thanks for my 550E @ 800+MHz, any body gonna slap down the big green JACK for that processor???

You can take an Athlon 800 up to 1.1 by replacing the heatsink with a small watergun pump a small aluminum tank and some aquarium tubing oh dont forget the duct tape. LOL http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Only the foolhardy would attempt this. "My disclaimer."

So you mean water and cpus dont mix well.
Now I know why my old p200 that I tried to overclock to 400 didnt work. Or it could be my cooling method. I tried a water hose spraying cold water onto the cpu and taped ziploc bags filled with ice to it. Was sorta messy and I hated the wet socks everytime I was at the puter. But ah all in the way of experimenting.

I am a pc enthusiast but I just dont see the reason for having a 933 chip. What the heck uses that spead anyway, other than a server? The games and apps I use today cannot challenge a 450 celery, much less a gigahertz chip. Chips speeds are way out of proportion with software, IMHO.

I would think they are only any use for one thing: RC5. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

2CanSam, don't laugh but I HAVE used zip-lok bags with ice on my experiments with old stuff. CPU temps at 130.2F need help quick, also some old mobo had a 12 leg spider type heat sink that got real hot too. also ""not recommended"" DrVette
