Hello everyone,

1. Is it possible to change the L2 cache divider in an Athlon with software alone without any soldering or cutting resistors.

2. Or is it a combination of software and removing resistors and soldering wires.

3. Or is it buying a "card", cutting resistors and then soldering wires and then using the "card" to change the L2 cache divider?

4. H-Oda appently had some software but it is expired currently. What was this software?

5. How hard or difficult is soldering and cutting resistors are?

Thank you.

Anton Rohan

The program WCPUA2 from http://www.h-oda.com can chance the cache latency on Athlons in Win9X machines. I have not tried it, but others have reported it working.

Other than that, the only means of changing L2 cache latency is by soldering.

I forget the name of it now...but one of the more recent Gold Finger Devices (overclocking cards) comes with the ability to change the cache divider and it connects to the CPU with NO soldering. There are other GFD that let you change the cache divider, but they DO require soldering a few wires.

I'm not exactly sure how this new card connects to the cache circut. I'll come back here and post a link soon as I find it.
