Ok I hv a Seagate pro "7200"rpm 6,5gig///and I just got a Quantum ex 10.2...
So ran Benchmarks Norton and sandra,,and the quantum 10.2 beats the seagate...I still can't beleive it..
So ,is it normal?
If so shoudl I make the Quantum my C:\ drive?

1..2..3...testing,...testing...are we ON ?? I think so.

Similar thing here. My BigfootTx,4000RPM, beats my WD 5400RPM using HDTach and Nuts&Bolts.

Try some large "fragged up file" read/writes on both drives. You may just be testing for sequential read/write. If the Quantum is indeed faster, then by all means you should make it the primary drive. You system will run faster, especially if you use your swap file much.

I have 2 identical 4gig WD hard drives so no difference there, but I was running an older 2gig WD as primary with one newer 4gig WD. I then swapped them around and I couldn't belive how much faster the whole mess was.

ridefreeThanks for the suggestion. The Quantum is disconnected for now (three year warranty with pc and i only need one drive really) but the WD is std retail warranty so it's my C drive until the warranty goes out. It makes that cling-cling-creckkk sound once in a while but no problems so far. It doesn't really seem any slower than the Quantum to me though, plus it's quieter. I like it a lot.
