I will be installing a new Diamond Max 20 gb
ATA 66, 7200 rpm hard drive. I was told that the best way to transfer my current data from my 2 gb hard drive is to : set the new HD up as the secondary drive and do a complete copy of all files from my old HD.
Then do a C:\sys D: command. Shut down, swithch the primary data ribbon cable,
Reset the master / slave jumpers so the new HD is the master. Reboot and if all is ok, delet all files from the old HD and it will then be my D drive. Will this work ? Is this the best way ? Someone else said that there is a command line that will do all of this for me.
Thanks

That is made by Maxtor, correct? If so just use their software(Maxblast) to do it.

The software will partition and format you new drive and will also copy you old one to the new one.
It comes with great instuctions. If I remember put the new drive in as master(the old as slave) and boot to the Maxblast disk and follow the instructions.
