That is a P III 500 (non coppermine CPU), running at 620. Mobo monitor screws up a lot, and Sisoft sandra is just plain simple to forge. I can make a unbelievable score is Sisoft sandra in a matter of minutes.

Let me completely disect why his cpu will never see 798:

The k6-2 core is based on a rather poorly designed .25 micron fabrication process. It is amazing that the AFR/AFX revisions are making the 550-575mhz level, considering that the true k6 core has changed little since the introduction of the first k6 series. The main obstacle when dealing with overclocking the k6 core is heat. At 798 degrees, his cpu would require HUGE amounts of electricity (my estimate would yield 4.0+ volts). Even assuming that the core could handle this, which NO .25m cpu can, then he would have to dissipate more heat than even an actively cooled peltier setup could handle. The only alternatives would be compressed liquid cooling using a liquidified gas. I am really sure that he has a liquid nitrogen storage system at his house. I don't believe that is something that you can pick up at your local computer shop.

Now let's assume you could actually cool it, and that the core could sustain the voltage. Then the level one cache onboard the k6-2 has a "implied" funtioning limit of 600mhz due to its architecture. OK, so he could argue that the l1 cache is disabled. If so, then he will barely have enough processing power to run a cpu benchmark, less long use it for anything productive.

I am also glad to see he has the extensive electronic knowledge needed to rewire the k6 core. I know of no k6 hardware hacks that have proved to be successful. I have studied the k6 core documents to some degree, and I have seen no way that one could alter the core to change it's o/c ability.

If you can't tell, I'm being rather sarcastic. The biggest reason why he can sustain this is the FSB and mutliplier. If he uses the 2x --> 6x remap, then his front side bus would equal 133mhz. I admit that super7 motherboards exist that utilize the 133 FSB, but I have never seeen one actually work (and I deal with many super7 systems). The highest susatined FSB I've ever seen correctly function is 112mhz. That would yield 672mhz, a far cry from 798. I have seen a few attempts with the 124mhz setting, but the system in question was completely unstable, and definitely not usable. We could barely run one DOS benchmark, then the system would do a hard crash. We almost toasted the k6-2 450 cpu in the process.

Hot cpu, considering I doubt you have cyrogenic freezing, a cpu capable of 4.0+ volts, a s7 motherboard with stable 133 FSB support, and the technical knowledge to rewire a cpu, I will dismiss this garbage post as another lame attempt of somone trying to gain popularity. You could have came up with a better, and more beleiveable lie. I seriously hope this post gets locked, and your account banned. I will now no longer dignify this post with my presence, and I hope that the Sysopt members will take suit. If you can applogize for this completely absurb post, then I might regard you as a member. Otherwise, your future posts will be regarded as trash, I have no use for trash. The forums provide us member with a place to discuss technology, help others, and hopefully learn something. Take a cue from the last part, learn that you don't post idiotic statements that are nothing but flame bait.

I don't commonly respond in a hateful manner to any post, but this idiot has upset me, as I feel this garbage is better served on forums other that Sysopt.com . We strive to have the best forum on the net, and I hope that continues. I do not want a proliferation of these idiots that have nothing better to do than post complete garbage.
