Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : 600E @744 win protection error Vcache
I seem to be stuck at 674mhz (6*112) the 115 bus speed puts me back at 600mgh. I can go to 6*124 pci(1/4) = 744mgh starts to load windows then I get "while initializing device vcache windows protection error" restart your comp. In order to o/c to 674 I had to raise the voltage to 1.7v temp is 30c. Any help is greatly appreciated as always.

How about the memory?? Can it handle the bus speed?? Can you run the memory asynchronously (slower than the FSB)?? It is worth eliminating the memory as the cause of the problem, in case you haven't already done so.
Sorry krusty I forgot to mention ram. right now I've just got 128meg stick of pc133. Are you talking about cas latency settings, I dont see anything about asynchronously
Thaks for reply

Mmmmmm.... as you've got PC133, it shouldn't be a problem. That asynchronous stuff is the utility that lets you run, say, PC66 RAM @ 66MHz whilst running a 100MHz FSB (or the equivalent with PC100 on a 133 bus).
I guess this is clutching at straws 'cos you've got the /4 divider for the PCI bus, so that's not a problem either. You've tried more volts as well......
Different operating system???????? Back to good ol' 95???? May be worth a go if all else fails??
Just a thought!
Yeh Krusty, I guess I'm gonna have to find what this vcache is all about, once I find out I'll post it.
In regards to the other bus speeds I select, and it only boots up as a 600, could that be a voltage problem? What would be the safe max I could raise the 1.65 default voltage?, Any idea's?, I know there is no safe voltage increase
One more thing I got to look at is the pio modes, I'm using ata66 setup. This is fun eh!
Thanks again Krusty, Biff http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I just changed my CPU to the PIII 600e tonight, first try 6x124 744Mhz running great! Intel boxed fan.
On a Asus P2B core V=1.696
CPU temp steady@ 30C
MB Temp steady@ 32C
I am running a ATI Rage Fury 32Mb, and running Win2k Pro....
Hi all, It seems the vcache error was due to my fixed setting of the swap file. I still cant get higher than 674 (gives me a windows protection error- no explanation, whilst loading win98)but I will try to flash my bios
Thanks for your patience - Biff http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
