Just bought a Cel433 with stock heatsink and fan and tried to get it apart to put some paste on, but it won't budge. It's almost like it's crazy-glued to the **** CPU! Anyone else have this problem?

I don't know if the adhesion is made worse by running the chip (produces heat). Both a celery 366 and 500 retail had the pad on the heatsink. Assuming that the pad is not some sort of thermal-setting adhesive, you should be able to remove the heatsink given a little patience. Have you tried sliding a razor blade between them and just working around the chip. You could also try running the chip to get it warm, then trying to remove the heatsink (try twisting it, rather than pulling). The heat may soften the pad/adhesive thing a bit...? Just a couple of suggestions! [This message has been edited by krusty the klown (edited 03-28-2000).] aleader 03-29-2000, 06:27 AM Hmmm, maybe I will try that. SysOpt.com
