I have an old 166mmx that runs fine @ 233[3.5x66] w/out any voltage increase. Can this little sucker run @100fsb? And where will it max out? I have good RAM to test it with.

yeah it might do 2x100 (1.5x100 for sure)
@ 2.9-3.1V
I had mine running @ 2x112=224!

It's PC125 RAM. But I couldn't get it to boot at 100. I had to back it off to 83x3 at 3v. It's running 250mhz,a little warm but it seems pretty stable. I went to Tom's Hardware archives to get info. He said he couldn't get his past 83, but he didn't get past 208 either. I'll let Norton fix my lost clusters and burn it in here. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it PC100 ram or PC66 or EDO?

I once read about someone that clocked a 166MMX to 292Mhz (83.3 * 3.5) although it was unconfirmed.

I'm running my 200Mhz at 266Mhz (75 * 3.5), with no real heat problems. Although I can't get mine stable at 83.3Mhz anything higher that 250Mhz (83.3 * 3). I'd like to know how you managed...

I had my 166 running at 83fsb x 3 @ 2.8v (cpu ran at 223) on a Tyan 1576 and all seemed fine, the cpu was very cool but the video chip was noticeably warmer (4mbVirge) and the on board sound chip was warmer.
I noticed a few extra lockups and BSOD's so backed down to 75 fsb x 3 (188) but still had the odd problem. The thing that made me return to 66fsb was some registry damage, the thing wouldn't start win95 one morning due to a corrupted registry, which I then used the backup. So now I've got it back at 66/166 and regained the old stability.
I suspect my old HD's couldn't take it, a 500mb maxtor and a 400mb Quantum, but the CPU barely changed temp from 166 to 223.

I had 200mmx running at 250(2.5x100) on ShuttleHot 591 for a while.I had the same cpu on a PCchips board running 270(90x3).I think it depends on the specific cpu I had a 233mmx a while back. And I could not get it run 300(3x100)on an Epox board which was a stable board.I'm planning on running the same 200 on a ENPC PS21 mainboard at 2.5x112, well I'll see what happens.Good luck.
