Hi people. I let my celeron 466 run standard for 3 weeks. Now it's time to play.
my system:
abit be6-2, pc133 ram, agp guilemot sdr
I got it to 525 at 2.0 v with no problem. 42 deg.
when I went to 580 ( 7x83) it won't start. one beep followed by two. no post or video. I know I need to up the voltage. right? but I had a ***** of a time getting it started again. (I had to discharge the bios and disconnect everything)
My manual says to turn it off then on again then turn it on a few times 3 to 4 or press insert when turning on and it will return to standard settings. None of these seem to work. Am I reading wrong or missing something?
thanks all
ps feel free to correct anything I said because I'm ignorant at this.

I have the same mobo and Celeron400A. It is running at 588Mhz (2.2V)...

Your CPU uses multiplier 7.0 so I don't think it hits 700 with regular aircooling. If you try 7x90 (1/3PCI, 2/3AGP) it may work @ 630 but has great risk of overheating. I used an old big PII heatsink (with little thermal stuff) and 2 fans and now it is arounf 40 Celsius... but if you have original Intel heatsink you shold better get new bigger one before you fry your CPU...

Thank you, I have a gemini FACRX-2B dual fan with heat sink compound installed.
My problem is when it won't start. I can't get into my bios to change it back.

Make sure you have all DIP-switches turned off. Then you can use SoftMenuIII and maybe pumping a voltage little bit helps (2.1 or 2.2V). My computer doesn't want to start sometimes if I use default voltage but now (I mean @ 2.2V) it behaves well... and make sure you have correct memory timings (better set them all to lowest if you don't know what they have to be) and try again...

Thanks, It's running at 581 at 2.2v and max of 49 deg C now with no problems. I think I can go higher.
The problem I have is if I go too far and it won't start I can't get a post to get into the BIOS to change it back. I've tried restarting it. I don't have a switch on the back of the computer. Do I pull the plug and turn power on few times?
thanks

Your system is running well I think... I have the same problem with restarting but my new case has extra switch on backside for turning powersupply on/off... so I can use that instead of pulling plugs out of wall.

But how often do we restart anyway??? 4 or 5... I don't count them. Priority is CPU stability... isn't it?
