Hello everyone. This is my first time here, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate everyone's messages. They are so helpful. Well my question is: I want to build a new computer. Money is tight, but I want a good system. I am thinking of either a dual celeron on the Abit BP6, an Athlon, or a P3. Can someone tell me which would be the best bargain? I play games, but not too much. Which one would last me longer and run future appications better? Thanks again.

Well, where to start.... While all the processors have its seperate advantages, you can say one is the best. A dual celery system would be a great bang for the buck option but you would need to use an os that supports dual procs, like nt or win2k. Also its doesn't mean that two 550's will equal 1100 Mhz, just that you will have two processors that will even out the workload. The athlons are turning out to be great processors and can beat the pentium III in many occassions. Their overclockability is good, just that the process will require a bit more effort than the PIII. Also the price of the athlon will beat PIII's at the same clock speed. The PIII is a good overclocker too and boast good performance also. An advantage over the athlon is that the compatability is better than that of athlons. If you want bang for the buck and an interesting setup, go with a dual celery processor system. If games and power are more of your thing, its really a matter of preference between PIII's and athlons. No matter what setup you go with, i think you can't go wrong. No matter what, overclock whatever you might get. Its a good experience. (unless that is you fry something... but don't be shy, go for it.)

Go for a P3. It is almost as fast as the Athlon but it has less compatability problems than the Athlon. Right now I read somewhere that people with the new KX133 motherboards are having troubles with the Matrox G400 video cards and SB Live! cards. A P3 is easier to setup because it is not so picky with parts like that Athlon is.
