Can someone tell me how to copy the CD-ROM boot disk? Tried disk copy did not work. It is a 1.44 floppy from microsoft that came with my old computer for windows 95 cd. Do I need this disk when I format the C drive or can I make a system disk that will work. Thanks to all in advance.

if your gonna format the C: drive anyways, download any generic DOS ATAPI CD-ROM driver and set it up on your PC and make sure it works and boot your PC but hit f8 and choose ms dos prompt only. It will run your autoexec.bat and config.sys before giving the C: prompt.

If you still want to copy the disk, use Copy/Paste from within Win.

Izzzy Thanks for the reply. I understand the F8 part. About the rest I am a simpleton. If I understand you correctly that after I hit the f8 it will look for the cd drive first or do I have to change it in the cmos to look for the cd drive first? Also if I format the C drive it will not erase this driver. Thanks

Don't know why it wouldn't copy/paste for you, unless the write protection tab is enabled on the floppy disk itself. Make sure it's down.

Means the disk is damaged. Get another one.
