If you get one, go for the 550e. They are much more overclockable (0.18 micron). I have a standard P3-500 and can't get past 575. Most people max out at 600 or 620. The 550e can go as high as 730 on the right mobo. Good luck.

How high can a P3-500E go?

Well this is how high a 550 went:

Pretty impressive eh?

But watch those PCI speeds if you hit a 150MHz FSB!! Does your mobo have suitable FSB dividers to keep the PCI and AGP clox sensible?? If not, you might want to consider a 600E, 'cos its higher multiplier will allow you to reach ~800MHz from a 133MHz bus - I don't know the specs on your board, but if it has an FSB/2 for your AGP clock and FSB/4 for the PCI, then you should be OK with ~150MHz.

Spencer's right - definately go for the Coppermine 'E' version as opposed to the 'EB' 'cos the EB's are supposed to run on a 133MHz FSB normally (as opposed to the E's, which are designed for 100MHz), so you have to use rediculous FSB's to overclock the EB's to the same level.

Confused yet??
