On my ABIT BE6-2 I am having a problem...

My BIOS says that my CPU is running at idle at around 56-58 C. I thought that this was extremely high. (300A runnning at 300 right now)So I grabbed the thermal cable that comes with the mobo and placed it under the fan against the CPU. If I use the HWDoctor utility under windows, the CPU temp still reads as it does in the Bios, but the Sys 2 temp reads -29 C (which i assume to mean 29C). Does this mean that the temperature sensor that is built into the mobo is way off? Or is the thermal cable wrong?
BTW when the system is running at 450 Mhz, the temp gets into the upper 60s Celsius, which is what alerted me to the problem in the first place.
I have run the system at 504 on the old mobo with no problems, now it is unstable no matter what i do.
Please help!

Those temps are in spec, your temp monitor's probably wrong though.

Most of the time, your BIOS temp readouts are correct regardless what other temp monitoring programs say.

Thanks for the replies.
When I OC it to 450, it can get very close to the preset alarm of 70C. Is this okay? I read about so many others having temps in the 40s on OC'd systems, that something has to be wrong. Thoughts?

It is an Antec. But I do not have the case on, or at least the case cover is not in place. The system temp is in the upper 20s, if that means anything. But either way, I now have the system up to 450Mhz and have been playing World Superbike 2000 and have had no problems, meaning the alarm has not gone off. The alarm setpoint is 70C.
Thanks all, for the replies.

Its gets close to the alarm that bad man you better do something. Mine Bf6 alarm set the same thing but mine get around 38 to 45 when playing games. I need better hsf. If your get close to the alarm that means something wrong in your case or the hsf not do its job correctly
