I have a K7M motherboard that i just put together recently. Actually i have had problems with putting together my system and having it work. The motherboard has a nice layout as to what you can play with..over clocking, etc. Now i have almost everything working, just a few kinks i need to work out, but think that the system is going to be an excellent one.
As for future mb's, i know asus is going to come out with a new athlon based motherboard, the only big change that i know of is that it will have agp 4x support as to the 2x support the K7M has right now. Good luck to ya. (if you can wait for the next line of mb's to come out you should)

i think what you are looking for is EP-7KXA mobo by Epox with Via chipset. Take a look at the link bellow: http://www.epox.com/html/english/products/motherboard/ep-7kxa.htm

The Epox is the first of the Athlon Mobos to use the Via KX133 Chipset. Hopefully there will be more soon. Aside from that, the ONLY overclockable Athlon board is the K7M. Its the only one with FSB settings. Multipliers must be accessed thru a Golden Finger Device (GFD)
Was just wondering I think I may make the switch to an AMD system now that Atholon is out and Intel is f'ing with the chips too much. What is a good mb. Right now I have the BE6-II for an intel based system so what do I need to look for in an Atholon system?

What I recommned is to wait until the current generation of Athlon boards is sold and the next generation arrive.
I just put an Athlon system together, a 600 on a FIC SD11 motherboard. I am not recommending that board because of limited options - I knew that from the start, but I wanted a proven board right away. What I didn't like was that the first thing I had to do was flash the BIOS - otherwise nothing worked correctly. I understand that the KM7 is a great board but that flashing the BIOS is necessary on current revisions of that board as well.
~edit, and BTW, even at 600 it kicks some serious ****.

ok then what are the plans for the next generation of mb's?
Yes I had planned on getting a daughter card for the chip but I think that I will wait for the next mobo's to come out. Man the atholon boards are expensive http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif You can almost spend as much for the board as the chip. that sucks. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif
