Yup, there's "apparently" a supply shortage on PIIIs. P3-450 once was @ $299 is now well over $450 Canadian.
It makes poor guys like me have to struggle all that much more to help out the economy and upgrade my computy.
For the benefit of the Canadian economy, I think the Federal Government should subsidize individuals, like they did with the farmers and almost did with the NHL, like me with my struggles in life, hehehe...
SUBSIDIZING NHL???
****, where'd they even get the slightest idea?
NHL is entertainment, a want, not a need.
FARM AID is a need, without it, we'd all be starving.
The gov' need to screw their head on back straight or we'll kick 'em out of government.
Well, that's one man's opinion.
What's yours?
plucky duck thats right. I'd help out the local merchants, If the provincial Gvmt gave me a break, I'd run out and get P3 600 http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.giftehehe
i thought the subsidy of the NHL was rejected by the govt?

Shortage on PIII's? Get an Athlon. Problem solved.

Wiz - I said almost.
If the gov' did subsidize those NHL teams, there'd be a lot of unhappy farmers right about now.
Never was a fan of AMD products, even though I agree their newest K7 line of goodies are superior to the PIII's, yes even coppermines.
One of the reasons I never did like AMD was how non-overclockable they were. 50-80mhz increase, thats it?
I can get a 250mhz jump from my C366 and 200mhz jump from my lowly C266.
Lets go INTEL, lets go!
Actually plucky duck, my 300 K6-2 runs at 450 2.6v, so thats what.. 150 =)?, and ive seen lots of people on the board running K6-III from 400-450 to 550, i think someone had 575 too....
I like to shop at www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) . Right now PIII-450s are $238 US and PII-450s are only $109.

Hey Duck; I have my K-2 300 @ 350, and the only reason I haven't gone higher is right now I'm limited by my BIOS. With a flash
I could go up to well over K-2 450 and o'clock or K-3 400 and o'clock without any problem. I'm really waiting for the new K-2-+
chips to come before I do anything. My computer may not be the best for gaming , however cruising the net and word processing it'll hold it's own with any thing Intel got. My wife smokes @ 115wpm and it never misses alick and it transfers as fast as the servers will permit for a Winmodem.Been to Gateway store right up the block and tried other P3's
maybe I have a freak computer but it runs like Big Block in a Small Block chassis.Frankly, I couldn't imagine an Athlon
800Mhz with a DSL hook up. I'd have to put a shield over my monitor the keep the image on the screen. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

This (http://www.theregister.co.uk/000201-000011.html) isn't the only article I've seen on the PIII shortage, but the register is an incredibly reliable source.
Sorry, they had another one of these shortage articles like a week ago.
