motherboard upgrade

I want to know if I upgrade my abit motherboard can I still use my old video card as well as my soundcard and other cards currently installed in my computer.
I would like to upgrade to a faster cpu, but I hestitate, because I do not want to spend extra money on new cards. I sure would appreciate some feed back to my question.

Shouldn't be a problem at all, unless you're talking about archaic ISA cards or something.
