hi i have 64mg of ram running windows 98 i have a 350mhz i was over my friends house the other day he has 200mhz and 32mg of ram and he is running windows 98. I like to use paint shop pro and the new aim 3.5 whenever i use them i usually get error messages saying i need to free up ram then my comp freezes he runs the same programs and hasnt ever got a message like that? also can anybody help me with my downloads cause i get about 1kb if im lucky i have a 56k modem that set me back 100$ help would be appreciated thanks

You might need to enlarge your virtual memory. About 150MB min/max size should do the trick. You will need to reboot.
Also go to Start->Run and type msconfig
Go to the startup tab and uncheck anything you don't need running every time you boot.
(You will need to reboot for this to take effect)
Finally kill stuff in the system tray or use CTRL ALT DEL to kill background apps. Just leave Systray and Explorer running.

If your friend's system was optimised in this way, it may explain his success. It also depends on the complexity of the images you are working with...

PSP doesn't seem as intensive an app as say a 3D game, but when you start playing with 16-bit colour full screen images, the memory gets sucked up real quick...
