it is after 12:00 here and 5:00 comes early. so I have a question for you all to answer.
when I turn on my machine. it says all this stuff "writeing on the screen" and than it dose nothing. can you help me out on this.
not to sound like a smart***. but, this is how some of the question are put across the board. you can't expect us to help you out. if you don't take the time or the effort to tell us a little more info. on the problem. there are a million problems. and a million answers. and no two are alike sometimes. and we can't see the problem or what it is doing. so pretend you are on long distance with tech. support. and the clock is running. the more info you give and have ready. the cheaper the call. "please" don't take this wrong. myself and some of the others will go to any point to help you out. but, you also have to help us to.
Thanks to each and everyone of you on this.
Good night. Gene C.

Socalgal: Would it be possible and even feasible, like ya'll put the little icons
on the site, to have a " fact sheet" or description page so that someone asking a question could fill in their system info when they're posting their problem or question so , like Gene suggests would save time and energy and get right to a possilble solution. Something like a " System Questionaire" Just basics, but at least everyone would have someplace to reference an
answer. Just a thought.. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
BTW: Happy New Year! A little late but I've been out of it for a while!
the pickel
Pickel, that's a great idea! Only...
Be tough for everyone to keep it updated after an upgrade or modification.
Got to agree with Gene 100% here. Got to have the info!!
Another pet peeve - folks, you need to come back to the topic & let someone know if a recommendation worked!! The ONLY pay anyone here gets for this tech support is the occasional "Atta boy"! And many here go WAY out of their way to help solve problems - they deserve thanks!!!

If everyone was a little more conciencious and posted the results of their fix or have a new catagory which has a link to the original post with the what was done to fix the problem. Then everyone would have a chance to review not only the the problem but what was done to fix it. A whole new knowledge base of it's own. Maybe a "Quick Reference" to computer problems. Or in each section have a link to previous problems in that category kinda like the Nathan has his help page set up. just an idea....May have to put another server in though http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Food for thought though.
Like I've been searching for months to try to cure my restart problem. Tech support had me set my video accelerator to " none". But that didn't work. Last night , going thru Windows Secret's book I came acroos section about acceleraters and found that maybe by reducing
to 256 colors accel card wouldn't outrun CPU
which was causing system to crash when dailing my ISP and restart.Very aggrivating!
I've dailed up five times so far and haven't had a crash. hoping it's fixed!!!Ed_S and WW,
we need to share our results so we don't keep making the same mistakes again. Pardon the commentary, but I feel this is an important issue for all our members. I'm done

sorry about not giveing more info. maybe this will help. the writeing is in the english formay style.
and as far as the reply for a thanks you or the fix worked is a great ideal. I sometimes and have in the past gotten e-mail thank you before from people. and a little pat on the back is nice to. plus, I would like to know if it worked or not. and if I spend alot of time trying to find something. and than post it. and don't get any feedback on it on the bbs ect. I fell like they were only out for themselves. and so I'm going to psss them by the next time. and make them wait. and than they will know how it feels the next time. the whole reason behind this board is to help each other out. and all problem are the same. no matter how big or small. and while were on the subject.
I see this reply alot of the time.
that is a sorry or cheap board, drive, cd ect. if you feel that way. why don't you send them some money or yours. or don't say anything at all. some people are happy with what they have. and that is all that counts.
this is why I never list my systems on these boards. I have thousands of dollars in systems and parts here in my shop. and to me. as long as they work. they are all the same. just different bells ring.
