It's a very interesting read... http://www6.tomshardware.com/column/00q1/000209/index-01.html otheos 02-09-2000, 05:55 PM I've read it this mornin. A bit subjective but contains lots of true facts. Only question I've got, if intel leaves the CPU market in a similar way they left the 3d market, what will they be building then? OuTpaTienT 02-09-2000, 07:04 PM They could be an "all purpose" company. They can just come by and do odd jobs around the house. Ya know, sweep floors and pick up the dog doo in the backyard. otheos 02-10-2000, 03:03 AM lol mrdisco 02-10-2000, 06:38 AM I posted the article, but I don't agree with everything he says. Intel does have its problems right now, but I don't agree with his analogy using the 3d graphics market. Intel entered the 3d controller market so that it could offer a complete solution for its AGP technology. AGP took off the way it did because as soon as it was available, there were already products for it. This was in no way a major part of their business, though. PC processors, however, IS Intel's core business. I seriously doubt they'll be dropping their core business anytime soon. Intel has diversified somewhat successfully in some areas. They have a pretty decent reputation as a provider of networking solutions. If Intel focuses more attention on that market, then we might see their CPU business start to crumble... but not until then. SysOpt.com
