Yesterday, AMD demonstrated an Athlon processor running at 1116MHz. While we didn't get to look inside the box, we were told the processor in use was a future version of the Athlon made with a .18 micron copper process in the not yet up and running Dresden plant. The processor featured an integrated L2 cache of unspecified size running at the full core speed of 1116MHz. You can expect to see this generation of Athlons on the street in Q2 2000.

It should be noted that there was no special cooling going on with the case. This was no overclocked KryoTech system. This was a plain old tower case. Surprisingly, the air blowing out the back was only slightly above ambient temperature
