Help with upgrading CPU on notebook???!!

You guys seem like the ones that can help me! I have a CTX notebook with a K6-2 300 and I want to upgrade. I got a 500 but dont know how to tell the bios to 5x it. I can change the voltage on the cpu and i/o but dont have any jumpers that I can see. It has a Phoenix bios and build date of 9/98. Is there a way to tell the bios to 5x it. I appreciate any info you could give me on making my computer faster! Can I use a faster chip than the 500?
