Had been running a 300A celeron @ 450 MHZ, which is as fast as it would operate. 500E runs perfectly at 133 Fsb X5 for 667MHZ! Started at FSB of 100, 112, 118, 124, and now 133MHZ runs perfectly at all speeds. THIS IS AT THE STOCK VOLTAGE OF 1.6! Have not tried anything higher than 133 yet. Did not think my PC100 ram would work at even this speed. The Micron 8E Cas 2 ram must be much bettter than spec. AGP video card (ATI All-in-Wonder 128) seems to be handling the higher AGP Bus speed OK. Also running ABIT ATA66 Hot Rod IDE card. WD 18 GB Expert ATA 66 HD and Creative LIVE PCI sound card. 3Com internal Modem. Since all FG-PGA PIII have on die cache they will all have the same speed cache ram, unlike regular PIII's. So if you can increase the FSB to a level to duplicate the processor speed of the fastest PIII, you may well be able to duplicate it. The temp of the FC-PGA does not seem to increase at the higher operating speeds at all. The difference in over=all performance of the 667mhz FC-PGA compared to the 300A @ 450 in impressive. Final Reality scores are off the scale! This is a GEM, better get one soon as when the word gets out they will be gone! A word about the IWILL "SLOKET II" (that's they way they spell it) MAKE SURE YOU GET THIS EXACT ADAPTER the earlier ones called 370 to Slot 1 WILL NOT WORK you will fry the processor as they do not support the Copermain 1.6 Volts. Also it seems that IWILL has shipped the adapters WITH OUT any instructions! The box has pictures showing how to insert it(duh) and the board has a diagram of how to set a couple of the jumpers for FSB speed and CPU type, BUT NOTHING ON HOW TO SET THE 5 VOLTAGE JUMPERS. IWILL's web site has no information at all and is the worse site in the world (try it). I called IWILL several times and finally got someone who gave me the settings for 1.6 volts and 1.65 volts and promised to make a chart and E-Mail it, not here yet. You can call them at 949-753-5488. Language will be a problem! The adapter is very will made and if flawless if you have the instructions. I can forward the setting if needed. My processor is Retail Boxed Prod Code BX80526F500256ESL3R2 BATCH 0947A048 VERSION A0134-001 dawgtuff 01-04-2000, 03:14 PM 533 Coppermine?Haven't heard of that one. However,in reguard to jtoxx's reply...yes, the 500e FCPGA is a beauty! If you get a Coppermine make sure it's a 500e or 550e FCPGA, not a SLOT 1 !The FCPGA's OC better than the SLOT 1's.Also,a VIA chipset mobo will allow you to set your vid card at a 1/2 ratio so you won't have a bus speed problem. BBA 01-04-2000, 04:40 PM Yes, they make a 533 coppermine, it uses a 133Mhz FSB with a 4.0 multiplier. I would go with the higher multiplier 500e. Siglr 01-21-2000, 06:01 AM Hi Would a 500e or 550e FCPGA fit directly on the Tyan 400 (S1854) since it has a socket 370? If I set the FSB to 133 of even 150, they would go as up to 665 or 741 Mhz for FSB 133 and 750 or 825 Mhz for FSB 150 ? In theory of course. Also, I just ordered a Peltier with Triple Fan cooler from coolerstar.com. I chose the "PIIIsecc2" model. Would it fit on the FCPGA? If not, what kind of fan do I need? Have a look at coolerstar.com, they offer free shipping for this weekend only. Thanks Guy Siglr 01-21-2000, 06:03 AM Or do I need a Peltier and extra fans at all? Siglr 01-21-2000, 06:42 AM Ok, The Tyan 370 socket is for Celeron only, it doesn't support Coppermine. I need a Slocket II converter. One question remains, does this CPU need to be cooled down a lot or can I only use the provided fan and heat sink? I'm planning on overclocking it (I'll try up to 150 if I can). Guy guy@siglr.com Thanks Guy [This message has been edited by Siglr (edited 01-21-2000).] dawgtuff 01-21-2000, 02:37 PM Siglr, The FCPGA's OC very well with the stock HS/fan.A Global CPM32 would be an improvement. The main problem w/FCPGA's is getting a good contact between the HS and CPU.The contact area is very small, and making sure both parts are flat against each other is important. Also, very good 100/133 SDRAM is important.
