Z28 TAZ 01-13-2000, 01:40 AM I'm currently running a K6-2 450@500, but I want to upgrade to the 533mhz, anyone know where I can find one? I can't seem to find one. Thanks for any help!! Phil Junky 01-13-2000, 07:28 PM Try looking at www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) You should be able to find it there, at least I did a week ago. Junky jokostel 01-13-2000, 08:13 PM not to be rude or anything http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif , but why upgrade and waste a 130+- dollars for 10% when you could upgrade to a athlon 500 and a new mobo/case for about the cost of the k6-2 533mhz plus 220+- for the athlon 500 or even the 550mhz cpu... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif oblivion 01-14-2000, 03:07 AM That would be a very silly upgrade IMO You will not be able to OC it to 600 or anything like that,it is likely that your current MB doesn,t even support the proper FSB anyways. If you want a desent upgrade think about getting a celeron 366 and selling your MB and CPU for 120$ as a deal, that is what I recently did and wow what a performance boost it was.My celeron 366 at 366 is much faster then an AMD k6-2 533,but I got lucky and my celeron OC's to 605 so it is really faster now. deep_sky 01-14-2000, 11:47 AM oblivion... i find myself getting irritated at finding your uneducated comments all over this board. the amd k6-2 533 are at 2.2v and with proper cooling can hit 600. it might not be able to go beyond but it will get there with enough fans, proper heatsink, thermal paste, and a good chip. if the gentleman wants a much faster processor he would be better suited to a athlon than a celeron. celerons go very fast and are good for gaming but the fpu performance of the athlon is equal to none. go read up on the recent comparisons of pentiumIII's and athlons then come back and continue to talk trash. then we will all know what you are really up to. oblivion 01-14-2000, 12:14 PM I am not talking any trash dude,I was just suggesting a cost effective upgrade that would actually perform much better then what he has now.And I have read up on most of the recent review on most new hardware out.And I know that the athlon would be the best upgrade as far as performance, but it would cost much more then a celeron upgrade for sure. And I Do not make "uneducated" comments if you were to check into these things yourself instead of ironically making "uneducated" comments youself, you would know that I am correct. deep_sky 01-14-2000, 12:31 PM an athlon would cost more to upgrade to, but it might last him longer before he had to upgrade again, since it is a newer design. but he and not us are making the decision, so it is out of our hands. we can throw catty comments at each other all over this board, oblivion, and i will not let up either if you want to continue doing so. however, we can also just call it quits right here and now and just peruse the board without having to get in a posting war every time. how about it? i'll stop countering your posts and you modify your the way you sound (example, your response to geneC.) deal?
