I can currently run my celeron 300a @ 464 mhz with just a big heatsink and fan. Do you think its possible for me to reach 504 or higher with a peltier?

I have an abit bh6 and the memory to handle the 112 mhz bus or higher. Purchasing a peltier could save me some money from having to buy a new cpu.

A lot of people are talking about drastic things to cool your proc. down but I don't think you need to buy a peltier.I have 2 questions for you:what is your mobo's temp.?(after heavy tasks)What voltage and speed are you using now?

My voltage is set at 2.1 with my cpu at 464, and my motherboard temp is around the lower 90's F after 6 hours of quake 2 demos.

I'm trying to get back my pride. My father has shown me up with his k6-3 400 on a 2mb cache board.

Now I understand why you wanted to go further.Your temperature is really good.Maby at 2.2V you can take 504MHz without extra cooling (although a big fan in the front of the case doesn't hurt). Can you tall me what excact type it is (sl32a,sl2wm)has it been made in costa rica or malay and from what week is it?

Believe me, those 40Mhz are not worth increasin voltage to 2.4V. I could use mine 333A (now 2.2V @ 500Mhz) run at 515/2.4V, but it generates much more heat... But it gives you onlt 3 or 4 fps if you love gaming...

My $.02:

1. Crank your voltage up to 2.2v (or up to 2.4v MAX if you can). If still no 504mhz then...

2. If you've got a slot 1 cpu, make a sandwich with at least a Global Win VEK 12 on the front side and something like a Cooler Master TC2-5025 1 fan sink on the back. Lots of instructions around the net for this procedure or e-mail me.

This is the cheapest way to try for 504mhz, but there is NO guarantee.

And 504mhz is a LOT! faster than 450 cause your buss speed is 112 instead of 100. Your other peripherals might not like that. Lots of hard drives won't do 112mhz buss.

Good Luck!

A peltier/heatsink will cost around $35
A c366 will cost you $40 (socket 370)
slocket $15
Alpha fan/HS $25
for $80 you will have the parts to go 550mhz
With a peltier you'll have condensation.
You pick.

Peltier Peltier Peltier....in general they are brilliant on the cold side....but what about the othher..slight dilemor! but the question I ask is if you know how to susussfully cool one?

This is not as easy task as it seems and isn't really possible as I found out to cool a peltier with even a big mother of a heatsink which only leaves water cooling as the other option to cool the hot side. Another question is if you think it is really worth the effort of going into water cooling for an extra 50mhz?

Peltier=big **** worthless headache
Trust me on this one, they are not worth it unless maybe as a side hobby to work on when you are not busy having fun.
