I was wondering if it was possible to overclock my celeron 366 to 550 without additional cooling.
- my celeron has a standard heatsink/fan
- I've got a front side case fan
- and my voodoo 3 is cooled with a fan
I tried running the celeron at 550, it work just fine but I'm afraid of running it for long periods of time because the cooling might be inadequate

I have the same setup basically, except it took me better cooling to get up to 550. If you can run it ok at 550 then just try burning it in at that speed then try lowering the voltage after about a few days. What voltage are you runng at now?

You've got a very good CPU.I'd suggest a better HS/Fan if you want to keep it running....DawgTuff.

Try a Global Win FEP32 if it is a PPGA chip and the Slot One Version if it is slot one. These are very good and called "alpha killers" http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif ( No harm meant to alpha, who posts his knowledge on this board also http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif )

kazu,
I've been running my dual 366/550 then to 572 for at least 6wks now and still no problem with just the stock h/s fan combo. Its does run on core 2.0v only though. Basically your call to get a better cooling h/s fan combo if more than 2.0v. This box on 572/104 fsb at room room temp of ~72f, 45c on both cpu and 53 mb temp.
My newest bp6 also run same configuration runs ~72f room temp, 45c mobo and 41c on both cpu.
Btw, the oldest bp6 has the latest week batch, wk41 and wk43 I think. The newest bp6, no clue. Just wanted to know if it was going 550. It did and off it goes cracking codes.
Bottom line your chip, your decision. Handle it.

I just sold my Celeron 433 on Ebay for $77.01 and purchased a Celeron 366 guarenteed to run 550 for $77.07 from Ebay of course. Now, that's what I call UPGRADING.

I sold my Celeron 433 for $81.00 and got a Celeron 366 @ 577 2V. for $75.00. It is up and running stable at 577. Did it on E-bay also.
Thank's for all the reply's you really helped me out.
I would like to buy a good heatsink/fan combo but I'm on a tight budget and I can't find any good heatsink/fan combo's where I live (the Netherlands). I could order one over the internet but I'm afraid the shipping cost will be very high.
P.S. How can I tell if a Fan is suitable
