Hello,

I have a Celeron 333mhz cpu(as a Single Edge Contact slot) in an Asus motherboard with
the Intel 440bx chipset. My question: With this setup, is it feasible to attempt overclocking this cpu? If so, what speed could I expect to attain?

5x75=375 - Didn't work on my system
5x83=415 (really 416) - No luck
5x100=DUH - Take a wild guess

I have a BX6, 98mb of pc100 ecc (from toshiba), Annihilator Pro, SB Live! X-Gamer, and a high quality network card (one of those rather nice D-Link ones). So I am rather sure it can't be one of my cards.

Ok, for a little more detail, let me say this. At 375 I made it to windows, but once I got past the login but then it froze up and it fu*ked up my registry. Same results at 416. At 500 it didn't even post. I tried bumping the voltage up to 2.3, no luck. Messed with the AGP/PCI ratio, nothing worked. I tried all kinds of L2 latency.. Nothing at all. I was rather pissed. Ohh well... Looks like I'll either be buying a P3 600 if I can get the money, or just a ZM6 and a cel 500

Thanks for your input. I have 64mb of pc100 SDRAM, a Voodoo3 2000 AGP video card w/16mb ram, Diamond Monster Sound MX2 300 sound card,a Diamond Supramax 56k PCI modem, 6x DVD-ROM, and a HP CD-Writer Plus 7200 series. I don't know if any of this would have a bearing on overclocking, though.

Ohhh sweet lord, a v3?! You bad bad man. Knowing the recent ****tyness of 3dfx (I bought a 2000 the day it came out, I hated myself for it) it might totally choke up on a higher agp clock. I'd recomend getting a new chip, perhaps a PIII 450, thats what I MIGHT do.. I don't feel like buying a new mobo for socket370 cels. What are the fsb options on your mobo?

I got 500 out of every P2 333 I ever tried on the Abit BH6, but they all needed 2.2v to be stable. They rocked at the time.

You will have to tape pins to get 500/2.2v...maybe someone here has the links for voltage and B21 illustrations.

I musta got the short end of the stick with this cel333. No luck on O/Cing to anything at all. Hell, 375 wont even work. And I have cooling... ohhh man do I have cooling.

Keith,

I think my brain may be a little fried...At the moment I have absolutely no idea what fsb stands for.

And yes, I do have a voodoo 3..I've had it for a while now and I don't remember any problems.
