Know anything about Drivespace3?

I downloaded a bunch of mp3s at work and was going to compress a floppy to copy them and take them home. Well, I used Drivespace (I know, I know) to compress the floppy and everything worked fine. It even shows up compressed in 'my computer' (82mb). But when I try to copy a file onto the disk it acts like it's still only 1.44mb. Why? And how do I get it to work right? Or some other options to get them home without having to download them on my slowpoke 56k modem? I don't have a Zip drive at work or at home, I do have a CDRW, but it's at home and I can't even bring it to work and hook it up, because I use a laptop at work, that I can't take home with me.

You can't do that. Plain and simple. The way drivespace works:
Drive space creates a second disk that is actually a compressed disk volume (kinda like a really big zip file). I think when you compress a floppy it can't really create that compressed disk correctly. Its just not goign to work. you could bring a bunch of floppies and just use windows backup and do it that way and restore it at home. I have no idea how drivespace 3 works but I don't think you will ever get 82megs on a floppy with it.
You may want to check out Win-Zip. It will not only compress the file(s) but will allow you to span multiple floppies if the compressed file is more than 1.4megs. Also
you will be able to make a "self extracting file" so that you don't need any kind of program to extract and put it back together on the "recieving" computer.
Note- I'm not positive if you get the disk spanning feature on the free evaluation version, sorry I don't remember. http://www.winzip.com/winzip.htm

Drive space3 only makes a floppy to 2.56mb. Then it don't work right.. I would assume he is either talking about an LS120 or a Zip disk. Other than that...???

I can make drivespace show a 1.44 disk as 80+ meg, but you will never see over roughly 2.5 meg of storage. The 82meg is an approximation if the data archived could be stored using maximum compression (like a text file that contains nothing but the same repeating letter without any formating).
