I think this came up as an issue last year, and it determined that nothing could be done about it by the admins, as we have to have the ads to support the site and that is the way the come, stupid animations and all....

no - I actually didn't mind the jeep as much as I minded the flashing red "X"'s and red dots - Eye-catching, but then so is an inbound nuclear blast wave...... I refuse to patronize annoying ads of any kind in the hopes of undermining their effectiveness and ultimately their use - same reason I'll never use MCI - I hate their ads which repeat over & over & over.....

By (bad) luck that ad appeared at the top of the page when I looked at this thread, and I have to agree, it's worse than the Jeep one.

Even more concerning was the About.com I saw this morning, "Should rapists be sterilized?". I don't know if Earthweb portray themselves as family-oriented, but I thought it might be hard for parents to explain this to kids they allow to surf otherwise harmless and useful sites Earthweb is involved in?

I understand that this forum needs the ads in order to continue this exellent service it provides for us. Although that flashing one is really annoying, the one that really bothers me is the one that says something like "click here for intercorse" that one may be a wee bit too much for some people.
p.s. rapists should be sterilized, or worse.
