I need tp connect my laptop (with no cd) to my desktop in order to load WIN98. I know where I can get win3.1 on floppys, and I will load win98 on top of it through direct cable. Thanks!

Eli 04-19-1999, 10:18 PM Win 3.1 does not have, or support, direct cable connection (oh how I've tried...). It does however have interlink, which with a little playing around, will work under W95, as long as it's the guest. Unfortunately, interlink doesn't support CD drives, or any FAT32 hard drives. Your best bet, if you have the room on your hard drive, is to set up intersvr on the laptop and interlink on the desktop, and copy the entire CD to the laptop's hard drive. If there's not enough room, then copy it to the desktop's hard drive (assuming it's FAT16...), reverse the interlink programs, and try and load it on the laptop from the desktop's hard drive. Sounds like a lot of work, and it is... But as long as you have a FAT16 hard drive, it can be done... Good luck. By the way, you do realize that you need a special parallel cable or a null modem cable, right? SysOpt.com
