we had an old 6,000 btu air conditioner that had a bad fan so we replaced the unit. well i desided about 3 months ago to make a cooling device out of the compressor. i re-did the coiling on the thing so that i could run the tube through the steel block and filled the compressor w/ freon again(got from black market shhhhhhhh don't tell). i used the power supply fan to blow on to the hot coils to cool them off. i used a funnel w/ a tube going into a container to catch the condinsation and the compressor plugs into a switch that leads to the wall socket. i really don't need it i'm just o/cing my k6-2-350 to 450 but i thought what the hell and now i get ice areound my processor this sucks cuz when i turn it off i have to wait for the **** thing to dry bfore i can turn it on again. any ideas on how to stop condinsation.

i added a digital thermal sencor that we use for the freezer and it runs at -27 deg. cel. is that good for the chip?

ok, let me see if I have this right. The cooler is getting 16 degrees below zero, Fahrenheit? You use a funnel with a tube to catch condensation? And, you get ice around the processor. For the money you spent on all this stuff you could have built a nice little water cooling or peltier combo kit. Anyway, seal the CPU Socket around the sides, virtually attaching the cpu to the socket. Use silicon compound. You may want to use a non conductive something to coat the processor pins with. Petroleum Jelly, I've heard works well. Schelaking (sp?) the processor also helps with condensation. Also, Dont turn the cooler on until after your into your OS. That probably leads to the most condensation. I would work on bringing that temperature up to about..geez. Fairly close to freezing for a little K6-2. I would take the fan off of the coils, see if those will heat the thing up a lil, and then work on cutting some voltages by adding resistance, or changing power source. I'm assuming it's running on....220 v? Isnt that what AC's run off of? Can you use something besides freon? If so, try water. By the way, freon is like illegal and bad for the environment, be careful with that stuff, we all have to live here.

Yeah, I cant beleive I even responded to it...I was like 6,000 BTU..*drool*, then I saw it was icing over, I'm probably going to have nightmares now http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

and this processor is running at 2.9 v to reach 450. and it didn't cost me anything remember i made it from and old airconditioner compressor. and i cant turn the fan off i';m using the exsaust from the ps to cool them down. this thing is running great i like it. it's also a 110 compressor too not a 220. i don't have any 220 plugs in the house. i can't use anything else for it cus its a freon compressor.

Your gonna fry yourself..not to mention the computer. Take the thing out and bury it in the backyard, will ya? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
