Going to stop there i think it's a waste of time to get any more out of the chip! I Will-letyou guy's and Girls fry your chips up ! If i want more juice i will switch to a K-7 ! by the way i did try 475 it didn't work! At .26 volt's. Leaving it at 450 and volt's at .26 did run on .25 at 450 though! Have Just bought the k-6 3 400 and DFI MotherBoard , WHere is the k-6 3 500 Hiding i know AMD Make's one! they make the 533k6 Why not just buy the chip instead of jurking yourself off!

Why not just buy the chip? Can I afford the chip? No. Why buy the chip when a cheaper one can do the same stuff. I can see this post turning into another hampster. Though I do agree with you about frying chips. A lot of people run their chips at stupidly high speeds and burn them out, but hey, if they didn't burn chips, we'd never know what ours could do!

The price difference between a K6-3 500 and an Athlon 500. Why bother with any K6-3? As far as the comparison of overclocking to jerking off, IT's FUN.

A 400 at 450 wont fry the chip, unless you use some sort of silly voltage like 2.9 without premo cooling, I had a 266 at 400 perfectly stable at 2.2v for several months.
webmagic4, if you've just bought the 400 then you KNOW why we o/c! Why didn't you get a K7?
Maximixe your performance dollars. If you fry it, get another, you're still ahead of the game - that's why!
BUT reasonable o/c'ing won't hurt it. Reduce it's life, possibly. But who here is gonna run the same one for 10 yrs anyway??
Scotter - What's that about jumper pullers, & just WHAT did you plug into that 220?? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/biggrin.gif

it is kinda like the old proverb "why climb a mountain? cause it is there". what would have happened if henry ford stopped with his little motor he put in the model a's? you would have a 25mph mustang.why would i spend $500 or $600 on a 600mhz cpu when i can spend $200 on a 450mhz and make it go 600!
it would appear we are not jerking OURSELVES off but the cpu manufacturers are jerking THEMSELVES off.
Gotta disagree.
The manufacturer's know exactly what they're doing. Remember that they sell hype to the masses & most folks don't even know what overclocking is. Most non-comp types I know just buy the latest & never open the case.
We upgraders & o/c'ers are a small part of their sales. Almost like we're just a place for them to dump the leftovers.
I like leftovers!
