I found a nice PCCHIPS M726 Baby AT motherboard, BX chipset, 100mhz bus, etc.. Anyway, slot 1 Celerons are a ***** to come by in Ireland and I can only find a 400mhz. With an Alpha dual fan P125, how will this sucker o/c?

NavyDood_ F/A18_Mech 12-12-1999, 05:35 AM The slot 1 celerons don't seem to o/c as well as the PPGA's. I have a slot1 366 Celeron. And the best I can get from it is 456 at 83 fsb. I'm thinking of getting rid of My slot1 and getting a Slotket and a 366 PPGA so I can get 550 out of it at 100 fsb. Jim Nixona 12-12-1999, 08:41 AM If it's an Alton board, chances are youre not going to get much out of it. Altong boards are value, bottom of the line, budget motherboards. If it has onboard sound and video, dont plan on playing any newer games, or even listening to mp3's while surfing the net. For the money you'll put on that, something from Abit, or FIC or someone with a cheapie soundcard and like a PCI Video card, and just upgrade as you get money for it. I'm just trying to say that Alton is not a good board. Sorry to ramble http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif alpha 12-12-1999, 08:53 AM What is an Alton? This board has onboard Crystal 3d audio, my current soundcard anyway, AGP 2x, and it's only £46.99 Sterling, inc. VAT. Nixona 12-12-1999, 09:04 AM Alton is who manufactures that motherboard. They have a bunch of company..."aliases" I guess you could call it. PCChips, PC100, PCWare, PCMax, PCQuest, PCMaster. Just to name a few. All the "companies" put out exactly similar boards, and they all..suck http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Theyre meant for new computer users, and those who don't do a whoole lot of anything. More than likely it will not overclockm and the sound will suck http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif alpha 12-12-1999, 09:38 AM I have my own sound card so I can use that. I'll find out more before jumping into anything. Thanks http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif SysOpt.com
